About the exhibition:

Artists, like everyone else, repeat themselves—sometimes as a positive reinforcement, sometimes as a negative compulsion.

Repetition occurs not only within the artist’s portfolio, but within the social structures in which artwork is produced and exhibited. “Bad Habits (Remember Me)” highlights this occurrence by re-presenting a roster of artists from two cities, St. Louis and Chicago, who exhibited together previously at the Chicago Artists Coalition. The exhibition investigates the fertile effects of reiteration—of elements and concepts within each artist’s work, but also of the artist roster itself. Beyond the compulsion to repeat oneself as an individual, the show emphasizes the way in which sustained group relationships can reinforce or reawaken existing concepts.
